Five Simple things to help you sail through rocky days

We could beat around the bush and go on for a few lines about life and all the challenges one faces, but we are going to give it to you straight up - life is difficult. We all know this! You are dealing with work pressures, commitments, responsibilities, and more, considering the uncertainty looming at large. Apart from these, there are personal tragedies that some are grappling with - divorce, loss of a loved one, health issues and so on. Everywhere you turn, there is something to trigger or stress you out and threaten your sanity.

 

While you cannot avoid the mishaps or challenging circumstances, there are simple ways to sail through the rough times and regain control over your life. It is therefore imperative to take care of your mental, emotional and physical well-being now. This is probably why “self-care” is the biggest buzzword of the year. With all the uncertainty and craziness around, it can get overwhelming, and therefore taking time out for yourself is the only way to keep going and face all that life throws at you.

 

So, how do you get through those days that are especially difficult? Worry not, we have curated five simple things you can do to tide over these difficult times..

  1. Take time out for yourself -

    Yes, you read it right. Make yourself a priority and set aside half an hour or an hour once a week for yourself. If you cannot do it during the weekdays, then maybe pick a slot over the weekend. Make sure to save it in your calendar.

  2. Indulge in a long bath or shower -

    If you had a very tiring or a particularly difficult day at work, it would be good to just come back home, have a glass of water and indulge in a shower or a bath. Make it a bubble bath, grab a glass of your favorite drink, put on some music and just unwind. This is a good way to relax and let go of all things that have been bothering you.

  3. Pamper yourself with a good scrub session or massage - 

    Whether it is work-related stress or just being out and about all day, it would be good to give your skin some love and care at the end of the day. Having a good skincare routine is excellent, but that apart you can book yourself a nice deep cleansing massage session and let the masseuse work their magic. Pampering your skin and body will help relieve some of the stress and leave your skin glowing and refreshed.

  4. Be mindful -

    It is very important to give yourself some time and focus on what your body needs when you are going through a rough patch. While the initial Instinct might be to grab a packet of chips or soda, dont! Instead go for something a little more healthy, like a nutritious snack. In fact this works wonders even when you're feeling overworked or exhausted after an intense workout session. If you've been feeling very low and fatigued all the time, maybe add a few health supplements for vitamins to your diet.

  5. Do something fun or calming -

    It is true that all of us need a breather, all of us need a break. A big part of self-care is listening to your body and mind, and giving yourself some time off. You might not have to take a day off work, maybe just half an hour away from work away and calls. If you enjoy dancing, put on some music and dance away; if yoga or meditation is what helps you, then go for it. We have seen that some people unwind with a book, while others enjoy spending time with their pet. Do whatever works for you, and see what difference it makes.

     

    Now that you have a few options, remember it is alright to just take some “me” time and give yourself a break. Just remember that “you” are a priority and it's absolutely fine to take time off from your busy schedule and give yourself some love and care.
